Coronation Street spoilers: David's guilt as he’s told street horror is his fault

Coronation Street favourite David Platt is dealt a tough blow next week when he learns he could have prevented the horror the unfolds in coming episodes.

This week, soap fans are in for a treat with some seriously dramatic episodes, with more of Weatherfield disappearing into the ground and a number of lives at risk.

And while it’s clear David (Jack P Shepherd) will live to see another day, it isn’t going to be an easy ride for him.

New Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that the long-standing character learns he could have prevented much of what happens on-screen this week.

Leo tells David he could’ve prevented the horror of the night before

As the fresh week opens up, the Weatherfield residents are still reeling from the traumatic events that took place days before.

But Leo (Joe Frost) breaks the news to David that, if he’d had the sinkhole that appeared in the Platt garden repaired sooner, the catastrophic events that happened the night before would never have happened.

Meanwhile, yet another tragedy hits the street – but what?

David realises he should’ve had the sinkhole fixed sooner

Later in the week, David’s news somehow makes it around the street, and furious residents confront him about the sinkhole.

David is left completely ashamed as he admits that if he’d had the repair work done sooner, none of it would have happened.

The Platts have been a central part of Coronation Street for decades – but could David and his family be shunned after this news?

Last year, a huge section of the Platt family’s garden vanished underground when a sinkhole opened up.

David’s ashamed as other residents confront him

They were left homeless for a while, but were eventually able to get their lives back on track.

Until this week, of course, when yet another sinkhole appears and threatens to take the life of a cobbles favourite.

David’s other half Shona (Julia Goulding) puts herself at risk as she goes underground to try and help Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) and Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews).

However this week’s spoiler pictures show Shona alive and well, so it’s clear she survives.

But can the same be said for Johnny and Jenny?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV
