Coronation Street’s Emma Brooker is set for heartbreak as she’s unable to help boyfriend Curtis Delamere in his health battle next week.
Curtis (Sam Retford) previously revealed he has a heart condition which could see him drop dead at any minute, but he didn’t know too much about the disease.
Coronation Street spoilers for next week have revealed that his health deteriorates further and Emma (Alexandra Mardell) tries to help but is stopped in her tracks.
Following the tragic events of this week in Weatherfield, Emma is left fawning over her man and how he rushed to people’s aid, knowing exactly what to do.
Naturally, Curtis laps up the flattering words.
But Emma’s admiration soon turns to worry when Curtis reveals that he’s agreed to do another shift at the hospital later that evening.
She’s concerned that Curtis is taking on too much.
Later in the week, while at the salon flat, Curtis runs his hand through his hair and a clump falls out.
He explains that it’s another side effect of his illness, leaving Emma completely heartbroken for him.
She confides in dad Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) about how worried she is about Curtis’s condition and asks if he’d lend her the money from Oliver’s fund so he could see a private consultant.
But her helpful hopes are dashed when Steve turns her down.
He gently reminds her that he can’t give her Oliver’s funds for Curtis, because people had donated their money in good faith – and it would be illegal.
Poor Emma is left deflated.
Will Curtis be able to get the help he needs? Or could Emma be heading for an even bigger heartbreak?
Curtis previously tried to hide his health issues from Emma at the start of their relationship and broke up with her.
But he soon came clean, telling Steve about how serious it could be.
Back in July, Curtis said: “In layman’s terms, I was dead. I’d love to say there was a bright white light with heavenly choirs but nothing. I don’t recall anything at all until the medics brought me back round.”
Steve tried to persuade Curtis to open up to Emma and while he initially refused, they eventually rekindled their romance.
