Dan Walker appeared to be missing from BBC Breakfast on Monday morning’s programme after presenting the Tokyo 2021 Olympics for two weeks.
The BBC morning show returned to it’s usual slot this week after it came off air for the Olympics coverage.
Former sports presenter Dan was also on hand in Tokyo to provide the sporting headlines alongside Sam Quek, but due to his latest gig, Dan was missing from his usual news slot.
As a result some BBC Breakfast viewers were left rather disheartened to see presenter Louise Minchin and John Kay on the red sofa instead of Dan.
With this being the case, some viewers aired their disappointment on Twitter.
One fan chimed: “Woke up this morning tired and bleary-eyed and couldn’t wait to see @mrdanwalker and @SamanthaQuek on Olympic Breakfast…….then I realised. Just a 3 year wait.”
Another said: “It ain’t the same without the Olympics and @mrdanwalker @SamanthaQuek on BBC 1.”
While a third chimed: “The Olympics ending is sad. Last 2 weeks was full of great moments and positivity.”
A fourth viewer also complained about the Olympics no longer being on TV.
“Now! Politicians return in front of camera to bring back the negativity, the b****ing and to divide the public for their own ends. Can’t wait for para Olympics to start,” they expressed.
While another said: “We’ve gone from watching 2 weeks of amazing performances at the Olympics to hearing this whining cretin.”
But viewers at home were not the only ones who were disappointed that the Olympic games were open, as Dan also tweeted that he was sad that it had ended.
Taking to Twitter as the closing ceremony aired, Dan penned: “I LOVE the #Olympics and I hope you’ve enjoyed these games.
“The sport is brilliant, winning a medal is amazing… but it’s the stories that stay with you. The heartache, the sacrifice the dedication & perseverance.”
He added: “Watching people striving to be the best will never get boring.”
He later expressed his excitement towards the games in Paris. Taking to Twitter again, he said: “Wow! Incredible stuff.
“Nearly 3 and half million people watching #OlympicBreakfast yesterday – 64% of everyone watching telly.
“We do love the #Olympics. Roll on Paris #TeamGB #Tokyo2020.”
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
