Dan Walker takes savage dig at Piers Morgan after sudden GMB exit is announced

Dan Walker wasted little time in sticking the knife into Piers Morgan following his departure from GMB.

The BBC presenter and former GMB host were involved in an animated Twitter spat earlier in the day before Piers sensationally left the show.

Walker criticised Piers for his controversial comments about Meghan Markle’s suicidal thoughts before Piers hit back by taking a pop at the BBC’s shows ratings compared to GMB.

But following Piers’ departure Walker said in a post to his 692.4k Twitter followers: “Sorry to hear the news about your departure from GMB @piersmorgan.”

Before adding sarcastically adding: “If you’d like to come on the UK’s number 1 breakfast show to talk about it….we could make some space for you in the morning.”

But a few minutes later Dan ironically offered some kinds words to Piers, someone he revealed he had always enjoyed “jousting” with.

“I know Piers a little away from TV & I’ve always found him to be great company (as I’ve said many times),” stressed Dan.

“I’m sure that underneath the fluff, guff & occasional bile is a decent bloke fighting to get out. I will miss our jousting and I’m sure we’ll see him back on the box soon.”

Yesterday’s GMB programme smashed their all-time highest ratings but ultimately cost controversial Piers his job.

And he and Walker traded blows in the build-up to his now infamous exit.

Dan tweeted a photo of himself and co-star Louise Minchin accompanied by the sarcastic comment: “This was taken a few seconds before I stormed off set because Carol said it was going to be chilly this weekend.”

But fuming Piers slammed: “I’m surprised BBC bosses didn’t storm in and drag you off set after yesterday’s ratings came in.”

The animated ding-dong continued as Walker responded by saying: “Congratulations on your ratings. Ours were good too.

Before adding: “In other news… I hope my boss would have dragged me off set if I’d used my platform – on national TV – to tell a pregnant woman, speaking openly about suicidal thoughts, that I didn’t believe a word she said.”
