The Vamps’ Connor Ball may be getting ready for Dancing On Ice but the bassist is preparing to make waves in a new band, The Lunar Year with their single Back For More.
Despite him joining a new band, The Vamps fans shouldn’t panic, as he is still a member of their successful pop group, but he is just exploring other avenues meanwhile.
The Lunar Year, comprised of Connor and Sam Macek have already announced some tour dates along with a new single titled Back For More which is out now, teasing an EP too.
Alongside new releases, there is also tonnes of new merchandise, with Connor showing it off on Twitter and stating that he “can’t wait to wear these every day forever”.
It looks like Connor is going to have a mega busy year, with his Dancing On Ice stint being confirmed in October.
Confirming the news on Captial Breakfast with Roman Kemp, Sian Welby and current Dancing On Ice champion Sonny Jay on Tuesday morning, the pop star said, “I’m excited obviously but I’m really nervous.
“I’m quite clumsy, accident-prone. Ice is hard! It was pretty hard to keep the secret.
The rest of the band know. They’re super excited for me.”
Excited about the news, Connor’s bandmate and former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant James McVey tweeted: “In true @TheVampsCon fashion, he has opted to compete in effectively the most technically-challenging tv show on the box.
“Good luck on @dancingonice mate.”
Bandmate James was not the only person who couldn’t wait to see Connor take to the ice in January.
The Vamps fans stormed Twitter with messages of support for the musician.
One follower wrote: “OMG Connor Ball on Dancing On Ice, maybe I will watch it this year?x”
Another added: “Connor Ball doing Dancing On Ice!!! yesss”
A third person tweeted: “Connor Ball on Dancing On Ice? He falls off the stage at a tour, he doesn’t even have to dance is he gonna cope???”
While a fourth social media user typed: “Will ONLY be watching Dancing On Ice for Connor Ball, literally no other reason.”
Connor joins a line-up that includes Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor, Happy Mondays dancer Bez, Paralympian Stef Reid, Love Island’s Liberty Poole, rugby star Ben Foden and Popstar and actress Kimberly Wyatt.
Connor also recently caught Coronavirus and unfortunately lost his sense of smell and taste.
On Thursday he issued his followers with his latest health update and said: “just an update on my taste/smell… almost everything tastes like ACTUAL SEWAGE… I’m sad”
Hopefully, the star will be funny on the mend soon and be raring to get stuck in with his ice skating training ahead of the launch in early 2022.
Dancing on Ice is expected to return to ITV in January
