Emmerdale’s Michelle Hardwick ‘loves’ talking babies with pregnant Amy Walsh

Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick has confessed she “loves” talking about babies with pregnant co-star Amy Walsh as she prepares to welcome her first child.

The 45-year-old – who plays Vanessa Woodfield on the ITV soap – has been off air for more than 19 months after she gave birth to her now 18-month-old son Teddy back in October 2020.

But after a relaxing maternity leave the star is finally ready to re-join the cast of the popular Yorkshire soap and she can’t wait to get back into the swing of things again.

As she settles into life as a mum, the star welcomed the day she could return to set and catch up with her fellow colleagues on set after her nearly two-year break.

Now, in an interview with the Daily Star and other publications, the actress revealed how she couldn’t wait to get back on set after she watched super soap week in October.

She confessed: “I absolutely loved super soap week, I thought it was fantastic. I was so hooked like everybody else and I thought Paige [Sandhu], Rebecca [Sarker] and Fiona Wade were unreal, absolutely fantastic.”

Emmerdale fans can expect to see Vanessa return to the soap on Boxing Day and she is here to stay as she finds herself involved in a whole new world of drama yet again.

Once she got back to the Dales, Michelle admitted how it felt like she’d only been away for “two weeks” as she reconnected with her co-stars again,

She explained: “Oh, it was so good. I mean, obviously don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen my close friends that are from work and I’ve seen them quite a lot when I was pregnant and then when Teddy was born.

“But just seeing people, seeing the crew [was] absolutely fantastic Working again with Amy Walsh who I absolutely adore.

The actress confessed how much she enjoyed being back on set with her colleagues after 19-months off work

“I had a lovely scene the other day with Paddy, so Dominic Brunt, who is one of my best mates, so it’s just gorgeous.

“It was just lovely to get into the swing of it and see them again and have a bit of a laugh with them. It was great.”

And it didn’t take long before she has been dishing out some much-needed advice to co-star Amy – who plays Tracy Metcalfe – as she prepares to welcome her first child in the new year.

She excitedly gushed: “All we do on set is talk about babies and I’m sure everyone is really sick of us. It’s like as soon as I come back, she’ll be going off on maternity [leave].

“But yeah, I’m not even joking when I say we talk non-stop about it and my experiences and how she’s feeling.

“It’s just really, really exciting because obviously there was me, Laura Norton in our friendship group and now Amy. Woohoo! It’s brilliant.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays, on ITV
