Ex-EastEnders star Kara Tointon gives birth to 'incredibly cool' baby boy

Ex-EastEnders star Kara Tointon has given birth to her second child.

The actress revealed: “Our second bundle of joy arrived on Friday 8th January at 9.46am weighing 7.25 pounds.”

She added to Hello magazine: “Couldn’t be more excited to start 2021 with this incredibly cool little man joining our family.”

The 37-year-old went on to thank the “amazing” staff at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, sharing her gratitude for their help in “bringing him into the world safely”.

Kara announced her pregnancy with her Norwegian fiancé Marius Jensen in October of last year, revealing they were expecting their second child together.

She told the mag: “We really wanted a sibling for Frey. So we said: ‘If it happens, it happens; let’s go with the flow,’ and it happened much quicker than we expected.

“I did the test in May. We weren’t shocked but it was a surprise, and we feel so lucky.”

Kara and Marius welcomed their first son Frey back in 2018, with the tot sharing his name with the Norse god of prosperity.

She and her Norwegian other half had planned to get married last year, however given the current situation it has been pushed back.

Kara, who played Dawn in EastEnders, didn’t seem to mind though, as she said: “I like to do things when I’m in a place to enjoy it, so if you can’t do that now, then why rush?

“It will be much nicer to get married in a celebratory way when we can enjoy it with family.”

The star has also been a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, as well as acting in shows such as Mr Selfridge, Lewis and The Halcyon.

However she’s best known for her four years on EastEnders as Dawn Swann, who she played between 2005 and 2009.
