Fearne Cotton has revealed that she has no idea why hit show Top of the Pops was axed from the BBC schedule back in 2006.
The former BBC Radio One presenter fronted the show alongside pal Reggie Yates from 2003 until it was taken off the airwaves, with the last show being transmitted on July 30, 2006, with Edith Bowman co-presenting alongside disgraced presenter, Jimmy Saville.
Top Of The Pops had been the weekly highlight of many BBC viewers for 42 years as they eagerly waited to see their favourite musicians perform that week’s biggest hits.

Speaking on That Gaby Roslin podcast, mum-of-two Fearne, 39, said: “After the show [Top of the Pops] had finished I sort of campaigned: ‘Please can we bring it back?’ Why is there no decent music TV? I just don’t understand it.
“I know times change and things move on, but I do feel bereft over that one still. It was such a big part of my week and something I would never miss.”

She went on to add: “It was really special as a music fan to watch all these different bands. I still feel it’s a huge shame. It was just bonkers and so magical.”
Top Of The Pops was broadcast to the nation, live from a BBC studio with artists such as Cher, The Rolling Stones and the Spice Girls being amongst some of the legendary names to grace the stage.
However, the last episode of the studio featured no live performances from artists, with the last act to officially perform live being Snow Patrol with their hit Chasing Cars, the final act to ever feature on the original show was Girls Aloud, performing Love Machine.
It’s estimated that the final show raked in 3.98 million viewers.
The chart show still comes back for special Christmas and New Year editions, which Fearne co-hosts.
