Shane Briant tragically passed away on May 27, 2021 at the age of 74.
The devastating news of the actors passing was announced by Robert Kenchington on Facebook.
Robert said: “It is with a heavy heart that I report the news that Shane Briant has died after a long and terrible illness.”
“On behalf of everyone in the group, may I extend my condolences to his family and appreciation of this great and uniquely talented man. The world of the arts has lost a magnificent actor. I, for one, have lost a very dear friend.”
It has been revealed that Shane passed away from a “long and terrible illness.”
At the moment, Briant’s family have not released a statement regarding his death and there is no more information surrounding his passing.
Born on August 17, 1946, in London, England, Briant went on to study Law at Trinity College Dublin.
Although he studied law Briant did not continue a career in the lagal profession instead he went on to become a professional actor and novelist.
The actor was best known for starring in Hammer Films productions; Straight on Till Morning, Demons of the Mind, Captain Kronos – Vampire Hunter, and Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell.
During his early career, Briant played one of the lead roles in Children of the Wolf, alongside Sheelagh Cullen and Yvonne Mitchell at London’s Apollo Theatre.
He soon became known as a fine, talented actor and was later nominated for the Best Newcomer award by the London theatre critics for his role in Children of the Wolf.
Briant soon became a hit in Hollywood and went on to star in Gillian Hills horror film Demons of the Mind and the horror flick Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter and Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell.
Not only this, but Briant also appeared in popular television series such as The Sweeney, Van der Valk, and Jack Gold’s The Naked Civil Servant.
In the early 1980s, Briant also found work in New Zealand and in Australian films and television shows. The actor starred in 14 films in Australia and New Zealand.
As well as TV shows and movies, Briant also published seven novels in Australia and one in the United States.
The actor’s first short film, titled A Message from Fallujah, received the Best of the Fest award at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival in 2005.
Since the announcing of Briant’s death, fans have flocked to social media to pay their respects.
One fan penned on Twitter: “Just read that the actor Shane Briant has died. He was best known for his Hammer horror films, including Straight on Till Morning, Demons of the Mind, Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter & Frankenstein & the Monster from Hell. He was 74. RIP.”
