Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe says he was ‘devastated’ by movie bosses’ bizarre demand.
The 32-year-old was told by bosses he couldn’t get rid of his character’s famous “bowl” haircut during filming even though he was a young teenager.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts is set to air on New Year’s Day and will celebrate two decades since the first of eight films was released.
Reflecting on his career which took off following the launch of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Daniel said: “We’re like, “No, no, no, no, no. You’re not leaving us like this?
“We’re supposed to be becoming teenagers and dating girls in this film!
“That’s not what it’s going to be, is it?
“So, I think we were pretty devastated as we realised that it was.”
Daniel played Harry Potter and started filming at the age of 12 alongside co-stars Emma Watson who played Hermine Granger and Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley.
The trio reunites for the HBO Max and NOW anniversary special.
Daniel continued: “Every part of my life is connected to Potter and to Leavesden.
“My first kiss is connected to someone here, my first girlfriends were here… It all spirals out from the Potter set somewhere.”
In another teaser clip, Emma is seen wiping away tears as she explained the huge impact the films had on her life.
She said: “It feels like no time has passed and loads of time has passed!
“When things get really dark, and times are really hard, there’s something about Harry Potter that makes life richer.”
Rupert agreed with his former co-star replying: “It’s a strong bond that we’ll always have.
“We’re family, we’ll always be part of each other’s life.”
Other alumni actors making an appearance in the Harry Potter anniversary include Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs and Gary Oldman.
Also, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Ian Hart, Toby Jones, Matthew Lewis, and Evanna Lynch will be seen by avid fans.
Producer of the franchise David Heyman and filmmakers Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell and David Yates will also join the cast.
