Helen Flanagan says she suffered ‘bad fall’ days before giving birth to baby son

Helen Flanagan has revealed that she had a “bad fall” just days before she went into labour with her son.

In an exclusive interview with OK! Magazine, the 30-year-old former Coronation Street actress opened up about the fall that left her feeling “worried”.

The mum-of-three who is mum to daughters Matilda and Delilah, and now baby Charlie too, explained: “Five days before my due date I’d had a bad fall and had to go to hospital,

“I didn’t want to mention it on social media because I was a bit anxious anyway.

“My mum was watching Delilah while I went to the physio as I’ve had a bad back, and when I opened my mum’s front door Delilah ran out.

“My mum lives on a busy road so I grabbed Delilah but I had sandals on and went flying, and landed badly on my coccyx.”

Helen explained that she was worried because she had badly bruised her coccyx, so went to hospital after the fall.

She told OK! that the hospital asked her if she wanted to be induced but she chose not to as she “thought it would be easier to give birth naturally”.

Helen then revealed that giving birth naturally wasn’t as straightforward as she thought it would be, explaining that her fall had left her in so much pain that she wasn’t able to give birth on her back – instead she gave birth to baby Charlie while on her side.

The ex-Corrie star is engaged to footballer Scott Sinclair who plays for Preston North End, who was an “amazing birthing partner”.

The happy couple welcomed their first son Charlie Scott Sinclair back in March.

Baby Charlie was actually born on the same day as his dad – March 25.

Helen and her fiancé Scott got together in 2009 and have been a couple since they were 19, but got engaged when the footballer proposed during a trip to Disneyland in 2018.

Rising to fame in Corrie and playing Sally Metcalfe and Kevin Webster’s daughter Rosie Webster, Helen hasn’t returned to the cobbled streets since June 2018.

On March 28, Helen took to Instagram to announce the news of baby Charlie’s arrival.

In a sweet snap of Helen looking natural and fresh-faced, she stood in the hospital hallway holding her newborn son as she smiled.

In the caption she wrote: “Our baby boy Charlie was born on Thursday on Scott’s birthday,

“We are in such a love bubble we couldn’t be more in love with our beautiful little boy, we can not stop staring at him.

“The girls just love him so much. We are absolutely besotted with our perfect little prince.

“I don’t think I’ve slept much since the labour but I feel like I miss his little face when I do sleep, not been able to put him down or stop kissing and cuddling him, he is so loved,” she wrote.

Helen’s announcement received over 214,000 likes, with over 3,000 well wishes in the comments section underneath.
