Helen Flanagan's pregnancy plagued by dizzy spells leaving her bed-bound

Helen Flanagan has spoken candidly about suffering from Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) during her pregnancy.

The actress, who played Rosie Webster during her time on Coronation Street, has explained how the illness left her bed-bound and unable to even turn on the lights.

The sickness got so bad in her first few months of pregnancy that she now vows her current pregnancy – her third – will be her last.

Despite always hoping for four children, Helen says the illness has taken the decision “out of her hands”.

The 30-year-old said: “It’s funny, I always thought if I knew I was carrying my last baby I would feel really sad about it, but because of what happened, I don’t see it like that.

“I see it as a positive decision and one I’m completely happy with.”

Helen says her HG has now subsided after it left her unable to look after her two children during her first trimester.

She added to The Sun: “I couldn’t even have the lights on because they made me dizzy.

“I couldn’t watch films or TV to try to take my mind off it and none of the medication worked.”

After multiple visits to the doctors, Helen’s illness has reduced to standard morning sickness.

Recalling one particularly harrowing experience, Helen told the publication how she couldn’t stop being sick in the car last August.

The bag she was being sick in broke forcing her to get out in the middle of the street and changed her pyjama bottoms

Once she has welcomed her baby later this year Helen is eyeing up a return to Coronation Street.

Helen admits that despite leaving the show in 2012 she now misses the show that made her a household name.

The starlet said: “I miss everyone there and I was so lucky to grow up on that show, because the opportunities it brought me have changed my life so much.”

Helen added: “I would love to return and hopefully I will, but first I want to enjoy the newborn stage because it doesn’t last long and you never get it back.”

Helen played Rosie Webster from 2000 until 2012.

She joined the soap when she was just nine years old.

In 2017 she return to the cobbles for a short stint before bowing out on maternity leave.

After giving birth to daughter Delilah, Helen decided being a new mum and commuting between the Corrie set in Manchester and her home in Glasgow was too much.
