I’m A Celebrity's Giovanna Fletcher 'banned' from handing over crown to 2021 winner

With the final of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! looming, it’s been confirmed that last year’s winner Giovanna Fletcher is “banned” from handing over the crown to 2021’s King or Queen of the Castle.

Giovanna was crowned last year as the first ever Queen of the Castle, and has now allegedly been banned from returning to the Welsh location to hand over her crown and sceptre to this year’s winner.

The ban comes as the Covid-19 pandemic continues, and the new Omicron variant sweeps through the United Kingdom.

A source has opened up to The Sun, confirming that Giovanna wouldn’t be able to get involved with the tradition. The source said: “ITV would have loved to have Giovanna back, she was a hugely popular winner last year.

“But due to Covid rules — even with the show coming to an end on Sunday — it was decided they couldn’t take the risk without her isolating, which is a lot to ask for a one-minute cameo.”

Last year when the show moved from Australia to Wales for the first time due to the pandemic, Jacqueline Jossa who was the Queen of the Jungle in 2019, was unable to hand over the crown.

She was due to make an appearance in the Welsh castle for the crowning ceremony, but when a Christmas lockdown was firmly on the cards, it was scrapped.

It comes after Richard Madeley was forced to quit the show after breaking the Covid bubble. After a trip to hospital was on the cards when the GMB host fell ill, he was unable to return to the castle despite feeling “fine”, as he could have been exposed to the virus.

With just four celebrities left in the castle and the final fast approaching, Danny Miller, David Gina, Frankie Bridge and Simon Gregson all have a chance to snatch the crown and win this year’s series.

Tonight will see the final four contestants take part in the hotly-anticipated annual tradition of the Celebrity Cyclone – a trial that sees the remaining celebrities battle with wind machines and a giant slip-and-slide-esque assault course – all while dressed as superheroes.

The penultimate episode will air tonight at 9pm on ITV, with the final airing tomorrow night.
