The famous Australian I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp looks totally different now.
Originally, the ITV show had been filmed at Dongay Creek which is close Murwillumbah – however, show chiefs were forced to abandon the location last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The hit reality show instead made a move to Gwrych Castle in Wales – and is set to remain there for another year in 2021.
With this years show looming – normally kicking off in November – snaps from the iconic Aussie camp have been circulating and they’re causing quite a stir.
In the birds-eye view images, the once thriving set looked like a total mess and completely rundown.
One of the snaps was quite alarming and saw the campsite looking slightly demolished, with a caved in rooftop and falling timbers.
With this years programme set to take place in Wales again, the set is likely to need drastic fine-tuning to get it up and running again in the future.
ITV bosses deemed plans for Australia to be “too tricky” and instead opted for a second year running to dismiss plans to return the show to its original home.
The production team had been working tirelessly behind-the-scenes to reunite Ant McPartlin, Declan Donnelly and a whole host of celebs with the jungle critters.
In an interview with The Mirror, a source said: “The logistics involved in trying to get the entire production team plus celebrities and presenters and all the families to the other side of the world amid the ongoing Covid travel restrictions has just proved too difficult this year.
“The show will be in Wales again and it will be brilliant, just like last year.
“There is a lot of humour involved in making I’m a Celebrity from a spooky castle at a dark, damp time of year on the Welsh coast. It will be a hoot.”
The informant went on to explain that it was a decision that ITV chiefs had made “lightly” but due to states in Australia still being in lockdown with curfews in place it just wasn’t going to be practical.
It wasn’t all bad news though as the crew were welcomed back with open arms at Gwyrch Castle in Wales.
