Spanish heartthrob Enrique Iglesias took the world by storm with his sultry music and dashing good looks during the mid-nineties and throughout the naughties.
Born in Spain in 1975, Iglesias relocated to Miami during his teens and found his passion for music as a teenager. Though his parents were fairly well-known musicians in their own right, Iglesias was determined to craft his own career. The star later gained huge popularity and released his self-titled debut album in 1995.
Later on in his career, Iglesias attracted worldwide recognition and was honoured as the Latin King of Pop shortly after.
The star’s chart-topping hit Hero in 2001 positioned him nicely as a global phenomenon and a household name, which gave fans all over the world even more reason to fall in love with him.
Though many fans have admired him for his sensual songs and his attractive appearance over the years, many may not be too familiar with his personal life and his outlandish manhood admission.
So to celebrate his 46th birthday, we take a sneak peek inside the star’s life.
Smallest penis admission
For many of his supporters across the globe, Iglesias is definitely considered to be a sex icon or even a sexual fantasy.
But the singer decided to crush all of his fans’ dreams when he confessed to having the “smallest penis in the world” while on tour.
During a live performance in 2011, the singer took a moment to bond with his audience on a more personal level by discussing his private parts.
The star asked: “What does Spanish good looks have to do with the size of your penis?”
After a brief pause, the Escape singer said: “Maybe I have the Spanish looks, but I have the smallest penis in the world. I’m serious.”
The star has also been quite open about his sexual preferences and once candidly explained: “I prefer love over sex.”
Enrique’s partner Anna Kournikova
Enrique and his tennis professional partner Anna Kournikova was one of the most hottest couples to emerge in the 2000s.
According to People, the couple first met in 2001 on the set of the singer’s video shoot for Escape where Anna played the leading lady.
Speaking frankly about his future love interest at the time, Iglesias said: “She’s beautiful, talented, great tennis player. It doesn’t take a good actor to kiss Anna and try to make it believable.”
The following year, the couple publicised their relationship and stepped out on the red carpet together at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.
After their first public red carpet appearance, the pair were spotted together on other separate occasions.
Marriage rumours
Kournikova and Iglesias have sparked marriage rumours and controversy throughout their 18-year relationship as fans were often left guessing whether they had officially tied the knot.
In 2004, during the World Team Tennis tournament, Kournikova was pictured wearing a large pink diamond ring on her wedding ring finger. Despite the rumour mill going into overdrive, the couple did not confirm if they were engaged.
Over the next few years fans and the press were often left perplexed with the status of the couple’s relationship. But things became even more confusing when Iglesias told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet in May 2007 that he and Kournikova had secretly married but got a divorce.
Talking to People regarding the matter, the popstar said: “We’re divorced. I am single now, but that’s okay, I don’t mind being alone.”
Despite his confession, Iglesias’ representative at the time spoke out and said after five years, “they are still together.”
In 2008, tennis pro Kournikova admitted to People that she didn’t visualise herself as a wife and that she’ll “never get married”.
Catching wind of her frankness the Hero singer spoke to People again and said he had been trying to marry Kournikova for a number of years but she wasn’t paying him any attention.
Speaking to Women’s Health in 2011 Kournikova expressed that she isn’t too keen on the idea of marriage.
The blonde bombshell explained: “Marriage isn’t important to me. I’m in a happy relationship—that’s all that matters.”
“I believe in commitment. I believe in being open and trusting each other and respecting each other completely.”
In 2014, Iglesias sparked marriage rumours once more as he confessed that he was single and recently had a divorce during an interview. But were the couple even married to begin with?
Family life
Though they’ve publically experienced a confusing ‘married’ life, Iglesias and Kournikova share three adorable children together.
Fans of the stars were unaware that Kournikova was pregnant at the time but in January 2018, the couple revealed that they had welcomed their twins: a boy named Nicholas, and a girl named Lucy.
The adorable pair were born the previous year, on December 16, 2017.
Though the couple were very private about their new little ones, Tennis legend Kournikova took to her Instagram to share a throwback of herself 37 weeks pregnant.
The celebrity couple added a fifth member to their family in 2020, as they welcomed another little girl called Mary on January 30.
Taking to Instagram to show off his newborn the following month, Iglesias shared a picture of himself and his newborn to fans and captioned the post: “My sunshine.”
