Inside Lucy Verasamy's fashion style – 'preppy' pieces to figure-hugging dresses

GMB weather presenter Lucy Verasamy regularly thrills fans with her gorgeous outfits and stunning figure.

Whether she’s rocking country chic for a day on the farm or getting glammed up for a night out, Lucy’s style is versatile and stunning at the same time.

Now, fashion experts have weighed in on how exactly Lucy achieves her look, and how she balances her preppy style with comfort to get out and about where she feels most natural – the countryside.

Brand founder of fashion label Honeyz, Sarah Ali Khalid, says Lucy’s style is usually ‘effortless’.

Speaking to Daily Star Online, Sarah commented: “Lucy has great style and a real range too, she wears boho and preppy trends especially well. Her work wardrobe is particularly inspiring, it’s versatile, fashionable and most importantly, wearable.

“She’s definitely mastered the practical, chic look! I suppose as a weather presenter she really uses her knowledge to her advantage and dresses well for all occasions.

“Overall, looking at Lucy’s fashion choices I would say she is confident, outgoing, bold and feminine. Quite the range indeed!”

However, Sarah picked up on a few pieces that “age” Lucy, including one of her iconic farm-side looks.

Lucy looked festival-ready for the glam shoot at East Seaton Farm in Scotland, pairing a pair of dark denim skinny jeans which clung to her petite frame with a stunning floral headband.

Lucy opted for her typical khaki jacket over a dark jumper to complete the look – but Sarah reckons she might have made a few rookie errors.

“The floral headband is a little dated, and I’m sad to say that baggy jeans are making a comeback so the skinny jeans do very slightly age her here,” Sarah confessed.

“This is definitely something people would have worn to rainy British festivals a few years ago – very Glasto 2013!”

To modernise the look, Sarah suggests a pair of tight leather pants and an Alice headband.

But Sarah reflects that Lucy’s usual style is “very on trend”.

Speaking about Lucy’s wellies paired with a plain white tee and khaki jacket, she said: “The long wellies with a denim skirt is a very cute look! Knee high boots are very on trend right now, but Lucy has opted for a super practical option here.

“The plain white tee and khaki shacket combination is also very trendy in women’s fashion at the moment and it’s a perfect light jacket to throw on with any plain outfit – practical chic!”

And she insists Lucy isn’t shy when it comes to making bold fashion choices.

When Lucy donned a brilliant white gown embellished with floaty feathers for a festive outfit last December, Sarah reflects: “I love this dress! A glam moment is a good moment.

“Lucy looks radiant in this white feather gown. The dark smokey eye is a bold choice but it definitely complements her dark hair and features.”

Meanwhile, acclaimed fashion stylist Miranda Holder also posits that Lucy’s style indicates a wealth of body confidence.

“When it comes to dressing up, Lucy is not afraid to flaunt her fabulous assets – and why shouldn’t she?” Miranda told Daily Star Online.

“She mainly favours figure-hugging mini dresses which show off her amazing legs, usually accentuated with killer heels to complete the look.”

But both agree that ‘preppy’ is where Lucy’s natural style lies.

Miranda added: “Lucy has a petite, trim, athletic figure and knows how to make the most of it.

“Her trademark skinny jeans, wellies and wax jacket project a classic, country girl look with just a little bit of edge to keep it interesting.”

She said Lucy “loves a preppy Breton stripe” which lends her a “sporty, ‘girl next door’ feel” when combined with her favourite khaki jacket and white trainers.

And Sarah quickly agreed that preppy is where Lucy feels most at home.

With Lucy modelling a tiny denim skirt and sleeveless jumper over a cute white blouse while giving a report to camera, Sarah offers: “This preppy look really compliments Lucy’s figure. The short denim skirt paired with a collared white shirt and sleeveless top blends both young and more mature trends together.

“For anyone who’s returning to the office soon, this is perfect style inspo, stylish yet sophisticated.

“Another great thing about this outfit is that it’s a mixture of staples we probably all already have – the key to a good wardrobe is having around 25 staple items that you can pair with anything, anytime,” she said.

And for anyone wanting their own slice of Lucy’s style, Miranda had some advice.

“Great skinny jeans can be found across the high street, but I particularly like Zara for their range of styles and great stretch.

“Breton stripes are classic too, but I think Lucy would particularly like small sustainable brand ‘Le Tee Paris’ as the quality is excellent and each one is made to order to save waste.

“Hush do the the best Cargo jackets (known as Military Jackets) and ASOS.com is brilliant for picking up anything sequinned.”
