Many bands and artists indulge when on the road and refuse to settle down, but The Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts married the love of his life just as the band started.
It was announced on Tuesday that legendary drummer Charlie has died aged 80, and he leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Shirley.
Charlie regularly said he was grateful that he met Shirley Ann Shepherd before the band became world famous after forming in 1963, and he regularly turned down groupies as he loved his wife so much.
The lovebirds married in 1964, and had one daughter together. Seraphina was born in 1968.

Seraphina gave the loved up couple one grandchild, called Charlotte.
He credited their successful marriage due to the fact he was “not really a rock star”.
Charlie told NME his devotion for Shirley and Seraphina was his driving force, and how he really just wanted to make music.
He insisted: “I don’t have all the trappings of that. I’ve never been interested in doing interviews or being seen.”

He joked: “Having said that, I do have four vintage cars and can’t drive the bloody things.
“For 20 years I never did an interview, you know? I did one with Ray Connolly and I didn’t like the quote.
“I did say it, it wasn’t Ray’s fault. But I thought ‘that’s it!’ and I never did an interview.”
He added: “Then Mick got fed up with having to do all of them and I was roped in.”

Fans loved seeing his loyalty, when during STP: A Journey Through America with The Rolling Stones, the band visited the Playboy Mansion.
Instead of the many gorgeous women wandering around, Watts was more interested in checking out the games room.
Charlie’s management published the news in a statement on Tuesday, that called the iconic drummer a “cherished husband, father and grandfather.”

It read: “It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Charlie Watts,”
The statement continued: “He passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family. We kindly request that the privacy of his family, band members and close friends is respected at this difficult time.”
