Popular Licence To Kill actor Frank McRae has died at the age of 80 after suffering a heart attack, it has been announced.
The American died in California, his heartbroken daughter has confirmed.
The star is survived by his son Marcellus and his grandchildren Camden, Jensen and Holden.
Playing Sharkey in the Bond classic, his comical role earned him fans all across the world.
The towering star – know as a gentle giant standing at 6ft 6ins – also appeared in Last Action Hero and Batteries Not Included.
Fans have paid tribute on social media following news of his death.
A message posted by the official James Bond Twitter said: “We are sorry to hear that Frank McRae, who played Sharkey in Licence To Kill, has passed away.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
Initially known for playing in the NFL, he left sport behind the create a career as an actor.
He made the move to Hollywood and won roles in films such as Hard Times, Rocky II, Paradise Alley and 48 Hours.
Fans have rushed to twitter to pay tribute to the tragic star.
“Such a wonderful actor who elevated every scene & movie he appeared in,” said one can.

Another called the actor “irreplaceable”.
A third wrote: “His character Sharkey was one of the highlights of Licence to Kill; charismatic and provided great comic relief.”
He first caught the eye with his appearance as Reed Youngblood, a grinning prisoner who helped Warren Oates’ character to escape in 1973’s Dillenger.
Frank’s more recent projects include the 2005 and 2006 television dramas Love’s Long Journey and Love’s Abiding Joy.
He also appeared in a number of television shows during his career, including Magnum, ER and Hill Street Blues.
It has been reported in America that donations his memory can be made to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya.
