Jeremy Clarkson left ITV viewers baffled when he admitted he’d “never heard of” famous his fellow ITV stars, Anne Hegerty and Adil Ray.
At the start of Saturday night’s show, the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host was chairing the quiz with his contestant, Archit, who was flying through the questions before he was faced with the £4,000 question.
Jeremy read out the question, which was: “Since 2016, who has hosted the TV game show that requires teams of five to name items in top 10 lists?”
The four answers were A) Warwick Davis, B) Phillip Schofield, C) Adil Ray, and D) Anne Hegerty, but Archit was stumped as he hadn’t seen the TV show in years, so didn’t know who currently hosted it (Warwick Davis).
When Archit opted to choose his first lifeline of the show, he picked Jeremy to help him out.
However, Archit and the viewers at home were in for a huge shock, because Jeremy admitted he didn’t know, and had no idea who either Anne Hegerty or Adil Ray were.
A flabbergasted Jeremy said: “I haven’t even heard of two of these people – Adil Ray and Anne Hegerty.
“I can’t even think what the game show is.”
Defeated, the presenter then concluded: “I cannot help you on this one.”
Adil Ray has been of the hosts of ITV’s popular chat show, Good Morning Britain, who replaced Piers Morgan on the show following his explosive Meghan Markle comments.
Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, on the other hand, is arguably the most famous Chaser on ITV’s quiz show, The Chase, fronted by Bradley Walsh.
Luckily for Archit, he managed to get nab the right answer, Harry Potter star Warwick Davis, realsiing that tenable was the name of the TV show at hand.
Unfortunately for Jeremy, though, eagle-eyed viewers on Twitter couldn’t believe he hadn’t heard of the two ITV stars, with many quick to comment on the revelation.
One puzzled fan commented: “How has Jeremy Clarkson not heard of Anne Hegerty?!”
A second wrote: “Excuse me did Jeremy Clarkson just say that he didn’t know who Anne Hegerty is?!?!?!?!?!”
A third penned: “How dare he disrespect the queen of chasers like that.”
A fourth added; “Was just gonna say… what planet has he lived on?? Jeremy Clarkson how can you not know?”
Despite making it past the £4,000 TV question, he was soon sent packing after getting the next question wrong.
