Jeremy Clarkson brands Tiger Woods' injuries 'odd' following horror car crash

Jeremy Clarkson is certainly no stranger to a motor bump here and there after a long-running tenure on Top Gear.

So when American golfing icon Tiger Woods, 45, got into a smash-up in February, the outspoken presenter was keen to examine the details.

After a spot of amateur sleuthing, the 61-year-old star found himself with a raised eyebrow and took to his column in The Times to share a few suspicions.

The sceptical Clarkson’s Farm star revealed he’d “never really understood” Tiger’s accident, writing: “Sure, police say he was driving at more than 80mph when he lost control, but it was a wide road.

“He’s a thrusting young man with a thriving pant compass and a sharp mind so the speed shouldn’t have been a factor.

“What’s more relevant is that he hit the central reservation and careered across the road before hitting a tree at what experts say was 75mph. So he obviously hadn’t braked very hard in the meantime”.

The journalist went on to say: “Then he rolled over several times before emerging from the wreckage with nothing more than a hurty leg. Like I say, it’s odd”.

Whatever Doncaster-born Jeremy thinks, Woods was certainly left with far more than a “hurty leg” after the horror crash.

In fact, the pro golfer sustained serious injuries including “open fractures affecting the upper and lower of the tibia and fibula bones”, and had to go under the knife for his leg.

Mr Clarkson is famed for his controversial remarks on many issues, and they often attract a flood of complaints.

He recently rattled a lot of cages after taking aim at Greta Thunberg, rudely labelling the climate activist a “pest” and an “annoying little bucket of ego”, before insisting she “needed a smacked bottom”.

Discussing the 18-year-old’s attendance at the 2021 Cop26 summit, the motoring legend explained: “I simply don’t get the Thunberg phenomenon.

“She has no knowledge of how the world works, no manners and no letters after her name because instead of going to school, she’s been busy sailing round the world so she can be mardy and abusive to grown-ups.
