Jesy Nelson has taken to Instagram to congratulate her former team mates, Little Mix, following their monumental win at the BRITs.
Taking to her Instagram stories, she shared a picture of her former bandmates holding the prestigious award and simply posted some clapping emojis and some heart emojis.
The trio took home the gong for Best British Group, making history as the first ever female group to win the award a staggering 44 years after the ceremony launched.
In a poignant acceptance speech, Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards thanked Jesy and their “incredible fans” and called out the industry for being predominately male-dominated.
In the inspiring statement they said: “It’s not easy being a female in the UK pop industry.
“We’ve seen the white male dominance, misogyny, sexism and lack of diversity.
“We’re proud of how we’ve stuck together, stood our ground, surrounded ourselves with strong women, and are now using our voices more than ever,” they added.
Member Jade Thirlwall then stepped in to continue: “The fact that a girl band has never won this award really does speak volumes.
Before the band left the stage they gave a nod to many of the incredible UK girl bands that came way before them including the legendary “Spice Girls, Sugababes, All Saints, Girls Aloud” and “all of the incredible, incredible female bands”, as they added: “This one’s for you.”
Following member Jesy leaving the group in 2020, this month two out of three remaining members, Leigh-Anne and Perrie announced that they were both expecting their first child, taking to Instagram to share the news.
The 2021 BRITs was their first public appearance revealing their blossoming baby bumps following the announcements.
Band mate Jade has gushed about how excited she is to be an aunty. Writing on Instagram: “Beaming for you both. I’m the luckiest auntie in the world! Love youuuuu x.”
At the ceremony on Tuesday night, host Jack Whitehall joked that Jade was drinking for all three of them.
