Kate Garraway says 'we can all get through this together' after Derek doc

Kate Garraway has assured her fans “we can all get through this together” following her husband’s heartbreaking ITV documentary, Finding Derek.

The Good Morning Britain presenter’s ITV documentary focuses on her hubby Derek Draper’s health battle, which has left him in hospital for over a year now.

Mother-of-two Kate has been speaking to her fans throughout the ordeal as she says it has been nice to “not be alone”.

The star, who recently said a troll suggested she leave the marriage, told fans an inspiring and upbeat message.

Taking to her official Instagram account, Kate shared a professional shot to promote the documentary to her 985,000 followers.

In the snap, she can be seen sitting on her kitchen floor having a hot drink.

Dressed in a blue and white polka dot jumper the beauty sipped on her beverage.

The caption read: “Do let me know your thoughts and share your stories. Here’s mine – tonight 9pm itv. [sic].”

“Sending lots of love to everyone on the 1 year anniversary of lockdown – we have all suffered – we can all get through this together. #hope #betterdaysarecoming #love”. [sic]

Within seconds the star was inundated with messages of support from her thousands of fans and fellow celebrity pals.

Jess Wright said: “Bless you Kate sending so much love to you & your family as always. Tonight will be inspiring to watch x x x x,” [sic] followed by a red heart emoji.

Derek has been in the hospital since March 2020

Carol Wright commented: “Bless you x you have been very brave x x,” [sic] alongside two red heart emojis.”

Derek has been in hospital since last March and was in a coma for months. Awaking last year to reveal with one horrifying word that he was in pain as he cried out: “Pain”.

Following the show, Kate has been contacted by the likes of David Beckham but she has also been left “overwhelmed” from the response from fans, she said on Good Morning Britain today.

Co-star and friend Susanna Reid asked Kate how she feels about the “impact” from the documentary.

Kate replied: “It’s been absolutely overwhelming in a really wonderful way.”

Kate continued: “So many comments from people and then I suppose we spoke on Tuesday morning about how it was quite a difficult decision to think about filming it but you hope it would be comforting for some people and shed a light on a group of people who may still be suffering.”
