Katie Price recalled some of the hardship she’d managed to overcome, remembering one letter in particular that she’d written after undergoing “severe traumatic rehabilitation”.
The 42-year-old confessed that she’d taken the time to pen a farewell note to cocaine in a bid to get herself back on track after her stint at The Priory in 2018.
In the candid interview, the former glamour model couldn’t quite believe how she’d ever managed to muster up the “strength” to seek help from professionals after “self-medicating” with drugs.
The mum-of-five wanted it to be known that her time spent in rehab was not for alcohol or drugs but instead for “severe traumatic rehabilitation” after suffering a hard-going few years.

When speaking with The Times, Katie explained: “People around me were doing stories that just weren’t true, and I’m trying to get up for air and then I’m being knocked down. It does get to you in the end.
“And because I’ve got five kids, I thought, ‘Oh my God, I can’t do this.’
“I didn’t know how to deal with everything. I just wanted to sleep. I wanted to shut things out. I went to the doctor – I don’t know how I found the strength.

“And said ‘I’m doing this [cocaine]. It’s taking over. I can’t cope with it.’ He’s known me a long time. He looked at me as if to say, ‘What?'”
Recalling the moment that she took pen to paper to pen a “goodbye letter to cocaine,” she wrote: “You’ll never get the better of me again.”
The My Crazy Life star, who gave up booze and spent the festive period sober alongside boyfriend Carl Woods, admitted that she still checks in with the doctor at the centre once a week.
Katie’s family were insistent that she sought the help of professionals, and in September 2018, the reality TV star finally took on-board their advice and checked herself into The Priory for a 28 day period.

Soon after her stint, Katie appeared on Loose Women to explain how she’d finally reached a breaking point in her life.
She told the panel: “My family and friends were hurt, they didn’t know what to do. All these years in the industry I never have [done drugs] but I purely did it to self-medicate.
“I went to the doctors and told them the truth… self-medicating on drugs really, it was disgusting, but it was my way of dealing with it.
“At least I can hold my hands up, if I didn’t speak out now, I would still be in a rut.”
