Katie Price pulled out of car by passerby who smashed window after drink-drive crash

Katie Price was pulled out of her vehicle by a passerby who helped her to escape from the wreckage caused by her drink-drive crash in September, Crawley Magistrates court heard.

Mr Marchant was the first person on the scene when Katie, 43, crashed her car on a B road near Partridge Green, south of Horsham.

Explaining the events that took place, the passerby said Katie had fallen into the passenger seat and her BMW was on its side.

Mr Marchant managed to remove a window and pulled the mother-of-five from the damaged car. Police arrived at the scene shortly after.

The former glamour model previously pleaded guilty to drink-driving while disqualified and without insurance following the crash on the B2135 on September 29.

On Wednesday, the I’m A Celeb star was given a 16-week suspended jail term. She was also ordered to pay an additional £213, which is made up of £85 court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.

Before the hearing, Katie revealed that she also owes £7,358 in court costs for previous instances.

District Judge Kelly sentenced Katie to a 16-week prison sentence, which will be suspended for 12 months.

The Whole New World singer will have to undergo 100 hours of unpaid work in the community, as well as 20 sessions of rehabilitation.

She will also be banned from driving for two years and Price will not have to take an extended driving test.

There will be no separate penalty for the charge of driving without insurance.

District Judge Kelly said: “When you chose to get behind the wheel that night you showed no concern for others. You could have killed somebody.

“Your actions meant the emergency services had to use up their precious time. You knowingly and deliberately flouted a court order and not for the first time.”

She added: “You seem to think you are above the law.”

Speaking candidly while at the hearing Defence barrister Joe Harrington told the court: “This is a lady with an awful lot going on.

“Things tend to be complicated with this lady.”

Katie’s defence barrister requested for the court to consider imposing a community order or a suspended sentence, as well as a drink-drive rehabilitation course.
