EastEnders star Kellie Bright decided to leave the drama in Albert Square when it came to her birthing plan, though it was definitely an unexpected twist.
For many women, a long labour is expected, but Kellie had quite the shock when it took just shy of two hours, with the actress only just making it to the delivery suite in time.
The actress welcomed her and husband Paul Stocker’s third child together on July 22 alongside their sons Freddy, nine, and Gene, four.
The pair welcomed their “miracle baby” Rudy in an incredibly fast fashion after Kellie was given a sweep to push things along.
Speaking to OK! she explained that she was feeling “really low” about the situation as she hadn’t gone into labour, but after her midwife give her a sweep everything went full-speed-ahead.
She said: “Within two hours I was having quite intense contractions”, explaining that Paul had gone for a coffee and by the time he came back her waters suddenly broke.
The mother-of-three said that the contractions became “so quick and intense! that they took her breath away and she was rushed to the labour ward.
Kellie recalled kneeling on a wheelchair and holding onto the back of it as she couldn’t sit down due to her pain, confessing that while she was kneeling on the wheelchair, her waters were still coming out.
She said: “I’m in the throes of labour and this poor girl is having to wheel me down corridors and in and out of a lift.”
Once the couple managed to get to the delivery ward, Rudy arrived just 20 minutes later.
Reflecting on her birth, she said: “There were lots of tears of joy. It was a beautiful moment. I’ll never forget my midwives as they got me through it.”
Kellie announced her pregnancy earlier this year after a challenging time trying to conceive through IVF, with her third attempt being her “last chance” as they hailed Rudy their “miracle”.
When she found out she was pregnant, Kellie confessed that with her two youngsters she didn’t feel like she was “done”, adding: “I always had an itch, a desire to have more.”
She has now welcomed her third child through IVF, after previously using the method for Gene and saving three embryos, though the first two were unsuccessful.
Kellie has now welcomed her third child and she and her partner Paul have three children together.
