During Monday’s BBC Breakfast, hosts Dan Walker and Louise Minchin spoke to Morning Live’s Gethin Jones, who revealed that his co-host Kym Marsh is suffering from covid.
“Janette is in for Kym today. Kym is at home after testing positive for covid so we will check in with her.
“So we will be checking in with her during the show.”
The former Coronation Street actress is believed to have caught the deadly bug from her 26-year-old son David.
Last week, the actress revealed her son had been passed on the symptoms from his girlfriend, who was “really, really poorly”.
This resulted in Kym missing episodes of BBC’s Morning Live last week as well, as she then had to isolate herself.
The star appeared via video link on the BBC One show to explain why she had to stay at home.
Kym spoke to co-host Gethin and her replacement Janette Manrara who were in the studio, explaining it hadn’t been a great week for the family.
Gethin started off by reiterating to viewers that poor Kym was really “having a week of it.”
The 45-year-old said: “Yeah, so I wasn’t well last week, I think you already mentioned that.
“I’d had a bad cold, and had two PCR tests both negative, but still was kind of coughing all over the place.”
“I travelled home as always on the weekend, to be with my family, with my kids, and then over the weekend my son has tested positive for Covid. So not great.”
When quizzed by the BBC One hosts on how her son was doing, Kym confirmed that he was in a better state than his partner who was feeling dreadfully unwell.
She added: “He’s okay. He’s not doing too badly. So it’s come from his girlfriend, his girlfriend is also self-isolating. She’s been really, really poorly.
“David hasn’t so far been as poorly as she has but today he said he’s aching more today and he’s coughing more as well.”
“But up to now, he’s doing okay, so fingers crossed he’ll be alright.”
The Hearsay singer has also been dealing with some difficult news regarding her father’s health.
Kym announced last month that her dad Dave has been told he has prostate cancer.
The starlet told fans that her dad was also told that the condition was incurable.
Her dad Dave, 76, reportedly delayed visiting the doctors due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Kym also revealed that his cancer has now unfortunately spread to his pelvis, spine, ribs and left leg.
The awful news came just days after the actress announced her engagement to partner Scott Ratcliff.
Her new fiance popped the question on her 45th birthday.
The Daily Star has contacted Kym’s spokesman for comment.
