Liam Payne teases One Direction reunion bigger than Take That after 10-year snub

Get excited One Direction fans because Liam Payne has teased a reunion and predicts it will be bigger than Take That’s.

The boy band failed to reunite for their 10th anniversary last year, but Liam still reckons it will happen and wants to emulate Take That’s 2006 comeback when they returned to even greater success.

Liam explained: “They killed it, I actually walked past a plaque of them from their second coming, the second coming of Take That, in the studio and I was like, ‘Well done boys that’s proper cool’.

“I remember going to see them at Wembley and they smashed it out of the park.

“I am hoping we can do the same but all good things take time.”

Setting high hopes for his own boyband, Liam added: “Hopefully it will come back either bigger or better.”

Liam revealed he’s also spoken with Harry Styles recently, thought to be the one member holding back a reunion.

But when 1D do return Liam knows which member of Take That’s career he hopes to emulate – Gary Barlow.

“As the main songwriter that would probably be my thing. I was always Gary Barlow anyway, I was the dad of the band!”

And thanks to lockdown Liam has become super dad to son Bear, his child with former X Factor judge Cheryl, telling Hits Radio: “I think you find your feet as a dad a little bit, we’ve had an amazing time together.

“We’ve had some amazing moments, it’s a lot of fun, and I think I’m very blessed with the child that I have.”

And there are other benefits too: “I got a wok, you know you’re getting old when you get excited about that.”

Liam’s new track Sunshine is out now.
