Line of Duty fans go wild as star performs funny dance after NTAs victory

Line of Duty star Tomy Jessop melted hearts while series six of the BBC drama aired over the Spring period.

The tense legal drama that had the nation gripped to their seats as they waited, impatiently, to discover the identity of H/The Fourth Man walked away with Best Returning Drama and the Special Recognition award at this year’s National Television Awards.

Taking to the stage cast and crew including Martin Compston and Tommy Jessop were delighted with the recognition at tele’s most prestigious evening.

However, while fans had voted in their thousands, their win was overshadowed when Tommy Jessop’s victory dance delighted viewers at home and in the audience.

Tommy, 36, took on the role of Terry Boyle in series five, airing in 2019 before returning to appear in three episodes of series six.

While accepting the award, Tommy started to dance with the crowd at London’s O2 Arena going wild before he continued to showcase his moves.

The actor started shaking his hips before offering a muscle man pose on the famous O2 stage, delighting his co-stars who were beaming from ear to ear.

Shortly after, viewers took to social media to share their joy, with one saying: “Someone please create a new category and hand the gong to him #NTAs.”

Before a second added: “The Line of Duty cast on that stage make me beam they’re so cute martins smile and Tommy’s dance moves I can’t I love them all.”

“Yes @tommyjessop great to see you there to get the NTA for @Line_of_duty, what a star and those moves were brilliant,” penned a third.

Before a fourth tweeted: “The winner of the whole of the #NTAs is, without a doubt, Tommy Jessop #LineofDuty.”

“Tbf, though Tommy Jessop’s reaction to #LineofDuty winning was classic,” typed a fifth.

Shortly after walking off stage, Martin Compston told reporters in the winner’s room: “Thank You to everyone who voted for us, Tommy was fantastic, I think he’s going to take the award!”

Teasing fans as they won the Special Recognition Award, Martin, who played DI Steve Arnott, said: “Who knows, maybe we’ll be back…” following months of speculation that series seven could be on the cards.

He added: “People ask me every two mins if there will be another season, these people love what we do so I never take it for granted.

“It means it’s going well, it means people are so invested and the fact the audience keeps getting bigger over 10 years so who knows?”
