Line of Duty writer Jed Mercurio has shared a cryptic social media post as rumours of a seventh series continue to circulate.
Last night’s hotly-anticipated final instalment saw the identity of ‘H’ finally revealed as Ian Buckells.
Fans are hoping last night wasn’t the end as the popular programme’s future hasn’t yet been revealed.
Show creator Jed shared a cryptic social media post on Twitter after Sunday’s episode.
Sharing a picture of the AC-12 sign, he wrote: “Carry the fire”, not giving anything away about a potential seventh series.
It seems the BBC show’s actors Vicky McClure and Martin Compston also hinted that the sixth series could be the last.

Vicky tweeted on Sunday: “Please excuse the slightly over emotional post but it’s been quite a surreal time! Now . . . Let’s wrap this up.”
While Jed added: “Working with Vicky McClure, Martin Compston (and) Adrian Dunbar has been the highlight of my career. Thanks to the rest of the cast, our brilliant crews and the production team for six incredible seasons.”
Martin added: “Been a wild few weeks and mental ten years. A job of a lifetime only made possible by the fans tuning in series after series. I can’t thank you all enough. Answers coming? Definately.”

Nigel Boyle addressed rumours of a seventh series of the popular BBC drama during Monday’s BBC Breakfast.
Presenters Louise Minchin and Jon Kay chatted to Nigel on Monday after the nail-biting finale aired and they grilled him about whether or not fans can expect another season.
Louise asked: “Is there going to be another series?”
Not revealing anything, Ian Buckells actor Nigel said: “No comment.
“I mean, I honestly don’t know. I hope there is, personally, but I just don’t know.”

In March, Jed admitted that he “doesn’t know” if there will be a series seven.
He told The Radio Times: “We don’t know. Since probably season four, we’ve been talking to the BBC about the realistic longevity of the series.
“I’ve experienced broadcasters pulling the plug while we were still developing a storyline –Bodies and Cardiac Arrest both ended prematurely on the BBC. So it’s an ongoing discussion, is all I can say.”
Jed added: “We’re in a situation where it’s not entirely clear that there will be a seventh series.
“We would hope there could be.”
