Line of Duty’s Martin Compston 'squabbles with wife' at National Television Awards

Line of Duty’s Detective Inspector Steve Arnott is certainly no stranger to conflict.

Played by Martin Compston, the character often finds himself face-to-face with his colleagues and the criminals they’re trying to put in the slammer.

But at this week’s National Television Awards after-party, the star faced bad blood of a different kind – that between a husband and wife.

The Mirror reports they saw the Scottish actor at the event – who speaks with a convincing South East London accent on Line of Duty – end up in a fiery tiff with wife Tianna Chanel Flynn.

The row reportedly unfolded a while after Martin picked up two gongs for the smash BBC police series – Best Returning Drama and Special Recognition.

A proud Tianna had joined her hubby on stage at the 02 Arena to collect the awards, but he later left her alone at the bar.

Heading off to grab a quick snap with presenter Alex Scott and a few buds, the move didn’t seem to go down well.

A seemingly unimpressed Tianna stormed over as he left her at the bar, resulting in a heated quarrel which kicked off in front of other guests.

Any other man might have floundered under the pressure, but not Martin Compston.

Clearly channelling his best-known character, the 37-year-old borrowed from Steve’s negotiation playbook.

With help from co-star Craig Parkinson, who portrays Matthew “Dot” Cottan in Line of Duty seasons 2-3, Martin expertly defused the situation.

The couple soon declared a truce and peace was restored before they made their exit.

Now the National Television Awards are over, Martin and Tianna will be returning to scorching Las Vegas, where they live with son Brodie.

Although it could be a better idea to head to cooler climates – maybe Martin’s native Scotland – where cooler climates would stop the heat from flaring up once more!
