Lorraine viewers gobsmacked as host says 'we're becoming a nation of fatsos'

Television star Lorraine Kelly left fans speechless with her outspoken comments on Friday morning.

The 61-year-old Scottish presenter was back on our screens to host the latest edition of her ITV talk show.

She invited fitness guru Joe Wicks onto the show to discuss getting people moving during lockdown.

The Body Coach has held online PE sessions on and off for the past 12 months.

As Lorraine congratulated Joe on his work throughout lockdown, she said that “we’re fast becoming a nation of fatsos.”

The presenter’s comment didn’t particularly go down well with viewers watching at home.

Lorraine Kelly left fans speechless with her outspoken comments on Friday morning

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “We are becoming a nation of “Fatsos” #Lorraine wow.”

Another raged: “@reallorraine not sure that was a good idea, Fatsos, really. #lorraine @GMB @ITV.”

A third person posted: “#Lorraine a nation of of fatsos! Nice motivation from #lorrainekelly.”

While a fourth pointed out: “Ironic of #Lorraine campaigning be kind then calls people “fatsos” on live television. #unbelievable.”

During her chat with Joe, 34, Lorraine said: “It’s so important is’n’t it. We’re fast coming a nation of fatsos and we really have to do something about it.

“When you’re overweight, loads of loads of different illnesses can then attack you.

“It’s all about keeping yourself healthy and keeping yourself safe.”

Joe agreed: “There’s two factors. There’s the physical health, which is so important obviously, but this moment in time we need to be thinking about our mental health..”

Lorraine dropped a massive hint on Tuesday that, just as many viewers thought, it was indeed Ant and Dec who were responsible for some bizarre moments on ITV show on Monday, by telling viewers all will be revealed ‘later this week.’

What started off as a normal show for the famous Scottish host took a very strange turn when she interviewed rapper KSI.

The weird chat, which also saw her apologise for “mice in the studio,” was followed by an equally chaotic segment on This Morning when hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby acted up as James Martin attempted to show them how to make choux buns.

There was then also something strange most definitely going on on Loose Women too as panellist Jane Moore complained about cramp and picked her nose live on TV, while presenter Charlene White rather rudely told guest Emily Atack: “I need to know. I’m so confused.

“You guys are obviously talking so lovely about the show but I really need to know what the show is actually about.”

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am
