Louise Minchin 'already missing family' ahead of I'm A Celeb as she reveals luxury item

Louise Minchin has confessed she is already missing her family ahead of her stint in the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! castle later this month.

The former BBC Breakfast star is set to enter Gwyrch Castle in North Wales this Sunday to take part in the reality show, which sees contestants taking part in all manner of gruesome Bushtucker Trials.

She is currently in isolation in line with Covid-19 pandemic restrictions ahead of meeting the other celebs.

But the thing she is most worried about, Louise admitted, is missing those closest to her.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday, the former presenter admitted: “What am I most worried about? A lot, really a lot! Because it seems fine when you’re watching it on the telly.

“But now I’m faced with all these challenges and Trials and hard things to do, so it’s really scary.”

She added: “Gosh, I’m going to miss my family. I’m missing them already. And just things that I’d really taken for granted, like a hot bath! I love hot baths and I love my warm bed!”

Louise later dished on her luxury item that she’ll be allowed to bring into the castle with her, as she said: “I am allowed a luxury item. I’m really pleased with my luxury item – it is a fluffy hot water bottle.

“I really feel the cold in my hands and feet so I’m hoping that’s going to make me feel much better!”

Louise was then asked if she is “carb loading” ahead of learning to subsist on a diet of rice and beans, as she responded: “Definite answer to that is yes!”

Her biggest fear for inside the castle, however, is a combination of small spaces and creepy crawlies.

She explained: “Particularly I’m scared of anything that is a creepy crawly that moves fast. So for example spiders and cockroaches.

“And if you added that to my other thing that I really don’t like, which is small enclosed spaces, I’m not going to be happy.”

She added: “And I can just imagine that because I’ve said this, that is exactly what I’m going to face!”

Perhaps unsurprisingly, BBC Breakfast hosts Dan Walker and Sally Nugent are backing Louise to go far in the competition.

Sitting on the red sofa, Dan said: “We’re pretty convinced she’s going to be brilliant, aren’t we?”

Sally responded: “Yes. I thought you were going to go one further there!”, suggesting Dan would back Louise to take the crown and become Queen of the Castle.

Clearly not wanting to jinx it, Dan said: “Well, you don’t want to go early. I think she’ll reach the latter stages.”

BBC Breakfast airs from 6am every day on BBC One.
