Things took an explosive turn during Love Island’s first look clip, which aired on Monday night.
Hugo Hammond, 24, could be seen with his head in his hands as he wept while the boys all huddled around to console him.
According to the footage, Sharon Gaffka fires back in a heated exchange after the PE teacher seemed to say something that she took offence to.
Sharon’s new chum Faye Winter proved that she wasn’t going to let her pal fight her battle alone and piled in on the argument.
In the ITV2 instalment, it doesn’t look as though Sharon is about to accept Hugo’s apology any time soon for the comment that she deemed as unforgivable.
The teaser begins with narrator Iain Stirling speaking in an eerie tone to heighten suspense.
He said: “Tomorrow night, careless words cause chaos,” as the drama unfolded.
In a remote room, Hugo speaks to another contestant who is away from the view of the camera.
Hugo explains: “I didn’t mean anything malicious, did I?”
The scenario continues in the outside area, where the former PE teacher begs for forgiveness during a tense moment.
“How can I make this up to you? That’s what I want to know,” he says.
In response, Sharon fumes: “There’s not a lot you can do, is there really.”
Hugo breaks down into tears as Sharon struts off-camera, seemingly still annoyed.
At which point, Faye comes into view and she isn’t at all pleased with Hugo.
The lettings agent vents in defence of Sharon: “I don’t give a f**k if he’s upset. F**k off.”
Twitter was ablaze with comments as the iconic end music began to play, with fans eager to know what was said.
One Tweet read: “All I can think about is whether or not Hugo is okay.”
Another wrote: “Hugo: ‘I didn’t mean anything malicious, did I!?’ What the hell did you say mate.”
While a third exclaimed: “Not Hugo crying! Who tf hurt him.”
Love Island continues tonight on ITV2.
