Lucy Mecklenburgh says son Roman, one, needs inhaler twice a day after hospital dash

Lucy Mecklenburgh has revealed that her son Roman now has to use an inhaler twice a day after he was rushed to hospital in a frightening state.

Earlier this week, the ex-TOWIE actress shared the story of how she discovered her baby boy Roman blue in his cot.

Poor Roman had to be rushed to hospital where he was transferred to an intensive care unit and placed on a ventilator.

Lucy, who shares her 18-month-old son with her fiancé Ryan Thomas, said he’s now back to his “cheeky” self but is still suffering from his frightening hospital stint.

That’s because young Roman is having to rely on his inhaler and needs it twice a day, despite the little one not liking the oxygen device.

Posting an Instagram video of Roman playing with his inhaler, she said: “I’m trying to get him used to his inhaler, he needs it twice a day now but he doesn’t like it.”

Mum Lucy asked him if he wanted to put some stickers on the inhaler before handing it to one of his teddy bears.

The reality star said: “I am hoping he gets used to it.”

Captioning the video, she wrote: “He now needs an inhaler twice a day but he hates it.”

Lucy hasn’t revealed what kind of condition Roman was suffering from when he was taken to hospital, but she admitted she had taken a break from social media due to Roman’s poor health.

On Thursday, Lucy explained to her followers that she had been taking time out from social media after the hospital scare.

Sharing a sad snap of Roman hooked up to some wires in his hospital bed, Lucy said: “As some of you may have noticed we haven’t been on social media lately.

“Just over a week ago I found Roman blue in his cot – probably every parent’s worst nightmare.

“Without going into too much detail it ended up with Roman being transferred to St Mary’s London intensive care being put on a ventilator.

“Thankfully we are now all home and Roman is back to his cheeky self.”

Concluding the post, Lucy wanted to thank the hospital for helping her son, as well as the NHS and the charities that support it.

“I am eternally grateful to the ambulance service for arriving so quickly, to Basildon hospital, the CATS team (children action transport services) St Mary’s London PICU * Cosmic charity (Caring for babies & children in intensive care).

“Thank you NHS and all the charities that support the NHS.”
