Meet Sam Quek – the Olympic gold medalist turned TV presenter

Sam Quek has been gracing our screens as a presenter and co host of Olympic Breakfast, the early morning show that covers footage from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The presenter has a diverse career in the spotlight but used to be a professional hockey player.

Sam won a gold medal for hockey in the Rio 2016 Olympics, so she understands the experience of competing in the Olympic games.

The 33 year old athlete started out playing hockey at school in the Wirral, and went on to study at Leeds Metropolitan Uni before going on to play hockey for England.

What is Sam Quek’s job?

Sam appeared on the Celebrity Masterchef 2019

Although she started out in sports – Sam has now ventured into a career in TV and media.

Since retiring from sport after the Rio 2016 Olympics, she appeared on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, coming in fourth.

She has appeared as a guest panellist on the celebrity version of The Chase and Pointless Celebrities as well as the BBC One show ‘A Question of Sport’.

Sam has also presented various sports shows including The NFL Show for the BBC, BT Sport and football for Channel 4 and LFC TV.

In 2019, Sam started working on BBC’s flagship football phone-in programme, 606 and she even reached the final of Celebrity Masterchef that same year.

Is Sam Quek married?

Sam is married to a property entrepreneur called Tom Mairs.

The pair met in a bar in Liverpool in 2013, were engaged by June 2017 and got married in August 2018 at Chester Racecourse.

They have one daughter, Molly Doris who was born in March 2021 after a “traumatic” C-section.
