Myleene Klass becomes paramedic after Dancing on Ice disappointment

Myleene Klass may be used to living the highlife on stage performing and entertaining the nation via her radio show but her latest venture shows she’s not afraid to be hands on.

The former Hear’Say singer has teamed up with St John Ambulance to front their latest campaign.

The charity are hoping to demonstrate the importance of knowing what to do in an emergency situation including how to administer CPR.

St John’s hope that the public will stop and think about how being more aware could save lives.

The message is even more poignant after distressing scenes last weekend during the Euro’s 2020 game in which Denmark played Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch.

If it wasn’t for his team mate’s quick thinking and using CPR, the outcome could have been even more tragic.

Taking about the new campaign, former Dancing On Ice star Myleene said via Twitter: “If you’ve ever worried about what to do in an emergency, how to perform first aid or CPR, today St John Ambulance launched their #AskMe campaign.

“So many of you asking where to train. Head to St John Ambulance to sign up for your free course.

“Also, look at my insta stories highlights. CPR and first aid in 60 secs. Save a life.”

In a series of images Myleene could be seen learning who to administer CPR on a dummy.

Helped by a St John volunteer, the star was taught the best techniques to use.

Martin Houghton-Brown, CEO, St John Ambulance, said: “St John Ambulance has long played a vital role in supporting the health of the nation – through world wars to a global pandemic.

“Despite thousands of people interacting with St John Ambulance, millions don’t completely understand all that we do; many don’t even know that we have ten thousand young people as a vital part of our charity’s work, for example.

“We are well known for our presence at events but, even then, the fact that we are volunteers is often missed. There are so many ways in which St John serves communities, from training and education to homeless outreach services meeting the needs of the most vulnerable.”
