Oprah Winfrey admits Prince Harry's honesty might 'not help' with Royal Family

In an interview with CBS This Morning, Oprah Winfrey gave her opinion on Prince Harry’s open discussion about his battle with mental health.

Harry, who is expecting his second child later this year, discussed the death of his mother and the toll it took on his mental health on Oprah’s Apple+ show The Me You Can’t See.

Gayle King asked Oprah: “He’s candid in this series.

“Do you think that being as candid as he is, is going to help him with the Royal Family?”

Oprah replied: “I don’t know if it helps with the Royal Family, but this is what I do know.

“Is that, being able to express your own personal truth in a way that benefits you and also helps other people to see the truth in themselves.”

She went on: “In this series, we are in conversation. He knows the power of story.

“He knows by sharing the story of his own grief with his mother that many other people that haven’t processed his grief will say ‘you know what? That’s what’s going on with me too.’”

In the new series, Oprah drew attention to and continued to champion an open discussion about mental health.

The talk show host aimed to show how celebrities’ discussions about their mental health struggles can make it easier for others to begin talking about their own problems.

While the Royal Family haven’t addressed Harry’s appearance on the show, fans on social media have been divided over the new series.

Piers Morgan took to Twitter to ask if Oprah cared about “the damage it may be doing to the mental health of Harry’s family” in his ongoing criticism of Harry and Meghan.

However, others defended the Prince, with one fan writing: “What a beautiful man. If Princess Diana was the Queen of Hearts, Prince Harry is taking his throne as the King of Hearts. Really, really rooting for him and Meghan to have a happy, full, wonderful life together.”
