Phillip Schofield threatens to walk off This Morning in savage Piers Morgan dig

Television presenter Phillip Schofield made a cheeky dig at Piers Morgan during Tuesday’s edition of This Morning.

The 57-year-old host warned co-star Holly Willoughby that he may “get up and go” at the start of the ITV daytime show.

Phillip’s comment referred to Piers, 55, storming off the Good Morning Britain set earlier on in the day following a fiery spat with weather presenter Alex Beresford.

The pair clashed on the breakfast show leading co-host Susanna Reid to call for an emergency advert break.

At the This Morning opening title finished playing , Phillip said: “”Careful what you say today I may get off and storm off”

Holly, 40, replied: “Don’t you leave me.”

“I may get up and go” Phillip added.

“I’ll be very nice to you today,” Holly joked.

The pair broke into fits of giggles before Phillip said: “What a morning eh.”

Good Morning Britain’s weatherman Alex Beresford confronted Piers Morgan over his treatment of Meghan Markle on Tuesday’s show, leading the host to walk off set.

Phillip joked that he could walk-off during the latest edition of the ITV daytime show

Referring to Meghan, Alex, 40, said: “I understand that you do not like Meghan Markle and you have made it clear so many times – so many times on this programme.

“And I understand you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. She is entitled to cut you off if she wants to.

“Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? Now, I do not think she has. But yet you continue to trash her.”

Piers suddenly climbed out of his seat and stormed out of the studio, refusing to engage in the conversation.

He fumed: “I’m done with this.”

“No, no, no, that is pathetic,” responded Alex. “Absolutely diabolical behaviour.”

Piers kept walking, moving towards the backstage zone of the studio while saying: “Sorry, can’t do this.”

After Piers exited the studio, Alex continued to make his point, saying: “Piers spouts off on a regular basis.”

Over 10 minutes later, Piers finally returned to the show, finally agreeing to hold a conversation with his co-star Alex about the bombshell Oprah interview.

Trying to bring about a civil conversation on the subject, Susanna said: “Clearly what that interview has done is it has raised a lot of emotion and a lot of tension.”

“I know where you stand on things. I’ve got a great amount of respect for you Piers.”

Alex then defended Meghan and Harry, urging Piers to change his attitude to the Royal couple, and condemning the tone of his coverage on Monday’s show.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
