Piers Morgan is 16st and has taken weight loss inspiration from Eamonn

After over-indulging in lockdown and reaching 16 stone, Piers Morgan has decided he will overhaul his lifestyle and plans to take inspiration from TV pal Eamonn Holmes.

The 55-year-old wasn’t just holding the Covid-19 period responsible for feeling out of shape, explaining that he’d gained a stone since he started working on Good Morning Britain back in 2014 and admitted to often chowing down on six meals per day.

Rather than dwell on it, he has vowed to embark on a new fitness journey and hopes to lose weight like Eamonn Holmes – who recently shed 42 pounds.

The GMB presenter also confessed that his journalist wife Celia has had to “lock” up the biscuit tin to prevent him from snacking prior to dinner.

Piers confessed that his eating regime had increased quite significantly in the last six years and that quite often before 12:30pm he’ll have already eaten five meals – due to his early shift start.

Speaking in his Daily Mail column, he wrote: “My Good Morning Britain day regime is usually porridge and honey at 5.30am, Marmite on toast at 7.30am, eggs and something when I get home at 9.15am.

“Possibly another sandwich snack at 11am, and a hearty lunch at 12.30pm. By 5pm I’m slumped on the sofa like a zombie waiting for dinner.

“As a result, I now weigh 16st, a stone more than when I started at GMB.”

Finding it hard to make changes in the new year during the lockdown period, Piers explained that Eamonn would be his new inspiration for shedding the pounds.

He said: “I’m not really into making new year’s resolutions and I find the notion of doing Veganuary and Dry January particularly preposterous during another lockdown.

“The former ‘Telly-Tubby’ has gone from being the object of my fat-mockery to my fitness role model. So my resolution is to weigh the same as Eamonn Holmes by the end of 2021.”

Eamonn recently started his transformation after leaving This Morning and having more time to get fit alongside with his wife Ruth Langsford.

After losing 42lbs, the daytime TV host dropped down to 15st following juice diets and dog walks.

“I have shed 3st over five years,” Eamonn told the Mirror.

“I genuinely believe in New Year’s resolutions. It’s a great time to take stock to repair your habits, to improve your life.”
