Celebrities including Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan have reacted to the news that Captain Tom Moore has been rushed to hospital with Covid-19.
The 100-year-old World War Two veteran made headlines around the world when he raised millions for the NHS by walking laps of his garden at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
Moore’s official Twitter account posted a statement on Sunday, which was written by his daughter Hannah.
She said: “He was at home with us until today, when he needed additional help with breathing.”
Hannah said her father had been receiving treatment for pneumonia for the last few weeks but was admitted on January 31.

The statement read: “I wanted to update everybody that today (Sunday 31st January) my father was admitted to hospital.
“Over the last few weeks he was being treated for pneumonia and last week tested positive for Covid-19.
“He was at home with us until today when he needed additional help with his breathing.
“He is being treated in a ward, although he is not in ICU.”

Hannah continued: “The medical care he has received in the last few weeks has been remarkable and we know that the wonderful staff at Bedford Hospital will do all they can to make him comfortable and hopefully return home as soon as possible.
“We understand that everyone will be wishing him well. We are of course focusing on my father and will update you when we are able to.”

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda was quick to reply and said: “Goodness me. Wishing you a speedy recovery and look forward to a cup of tea with you when it’s safe,” followed by a red heart emoji.
Good Morning Britain host Piers posted a picture of Moore and wrote alongside it: “Come on, Captain Sir Tom – we’re all rooting for you.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson retweeted the statement and added: “My thoughts are very much with @CaptainTomMoore and his family. You’ve inspired the whole nation, and I know we are all wishing you a full recovery.”
BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker also retweeted it and had his fingers crossed as he posted: “Come on Captain Tom.”
BBC Radio 2 host Zoe Ball tweeted: “Sending all the love and strength to Sir Captain Tom Moore x.”

Peter Andre simply left a string of prayer hand emoji, while former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison said: “Wishing him a speedy recovery.”
Bear Grylls wrote: “Sending prayers…. come on Sir Tom…” and singer Michael Ball wrote in a tweet: “Love and prayers for @captaintommoore and his lovely family as he battles this bastard of a virus. Stay strong Sir. We are all here for you.”
Captain Sir Tom’s fundraising efforts raised more than £32 million for the NHS, walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday during the first national lockdown in April.
The veteran set out to raise £1,000 from his lockdown charity challenge but his efforts struck a chord with the nation, and praise and donations flooded in.
In acknowledgement of his efforts, he was knighted by the Queen during a unique open-air ceremony at Windsor Castle in summer 2020.
