Piers Morgan still has 'fatigue and no taste' 18 days after first Covid symptoms

Piers Morgan has taken to social media to give fans an update on his health after being struck down with coronavirus.

The 56-year-old former Good Morning Britain presenter believes he caught the Delta of Covid-19 while he was watching the Euros final at Wembley over two weeks ago, despite everyone attending being fully vaccinating or showing negative tests.

He previously revealed that he’d been left with chest pain, a fever and cold sweats, though it could’ve been much worse had he not had both doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Piers has since informed his 7.1 million Twitter followers that has “shocking fatigue” 18 days on from when he first developed symptoms.

The former newspaper editor penned: “Day 18 since covid symptoms started and still have shocking fatigue and little taste/smell.

“Anyone else who got virus after being fully vaccinated having same ‘journey’?”

Unsurprisingly, Piers’ tweet caught the attention of his followers, with some rushing to share their own experience with the virus.

One fan penned: “Was double vaxxed with AZ and have spent the past 14 days in hospital on oxygen… no joke this thing!”

Another added: “My husband and I both fully vaccinated and very unwell after being diagnosed with COVID at beginning of July. My husband is 51yrs and this is the first time in his working life he’s been off work unwell.”

A third person posted: “Friend of mine still suffering fatigue 12 months on.”

While a fourth social media user said: “Day 15 for me and I also have shocking fatigue, about 60% of my taste and smell, although i seem to have a ‘chemically’ taste in my mouth, an occasional cough and my lungs feel like I’ve chain smoked 20 cigarettes. I don’t smoke.”

Piers believes he caught coronavirus at Wembley Stadium

Piers attended the football match, which saw Italy defeat England, with his sons Stanley, Spencer and Albert.

But he complained that it soon became an “unregulated free-for-all” when people without tickets managed to breach security and get into the match.

Writing in his Mail on Sunday column, Piers said: “My confidence that the event would be ‘Covid safe’ had disintegrated.”

Two days after the event, Piers began to feel unwell and a lateral flow test came back positive, before he tested positive on a PCR test too.

His symptoms included fever, cold sweats, coughing, sneezing, “strange aches” and “alarming” chest pains, though they have now faded.

“This is definitely the roughest I’ve felt from any illness in my adult life, but, as I slowly come out the other side, coughing and spluttering,” he wrote.

“I’m still here – unlike so many millions around the world who’ve lost their lives to Covid in this pandemic.”

He said he owes “a heartfelt debt of thanks” to the creators of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
