Piers Morgan has insisted that he would “travel continents” to avoid’ Adele’s performance after he sharing that he wasn’t invited to the televised event that aired on ITV on Sunday.
Adele performed a set of her songs, new and old, at the London Palladium earlier this month on November 6.
In front of a star-studded audience, the singing sensation belted out her most-loved hits as well as some new tracks from her newly-released album – 30.
The audience included high-profiled celebrities from all over the globe, with the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Mel B, Bryan Cranston, Idris Elba, Dawn French, Emma Thompson and Alan Carr all in attendance.
But one very prominent famous face was missing from the crowd – who would have been sure to ask the most probing questions of all.
Piers Morgan, former GMB host, has an esteemed CV full of interviews with high-profiled celebs, and would have been ideal to pose questions to the singer
The no-nonsense broadcaster took to Twitter while the show aired, where he live blogged his views of the exclusive programme.
He tweeted: “If I was at this #AnAudienceWithAdele, I’d ask her two questions: 1) Does the unctuous sycophancy from your celebrity fans make you want to vomit? 2) How come you’re singing more perfectly ‘live’ than on your records?”
Concluding with: “* This probably explains why I wasn’t invited.”
Fans were not impressed with Piers’ remarks, with one saying: “You weren’t invited because you a nobody! So off you trot again and go and crawl under your stone.”
Another commented below his tweet: “She turned you down for a interview so you have filed her on the Meghan shelf then!”
A third penned: “Babe, she probably forgot you exist yet here she is in your head, rent free.”
While a fourth said: “Why can’t you just celebrate and enjoy such a wonderful British success story? What is wrong with you?”
Someone else tweeted the broadcaster and said: “Tell me you’re livid you weren’t invited to #AnAudienceWithAdele without telling me you’re livid.”
To which Piers replied: “No, those things are awful to actually attend – hours & hours waiting around, endless re-takes, way too hot, no alcohol and a high quota of celebrities I’d travel continents to avoid.”
