Piers Morgan’s ongoing feud with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly – particularly over the NTAs – has made it highly unlikely the former GMB star would ever appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
No-nonsense Piers would certainly make for dramatic TV if he did ever decide to go on the show, so it’s not a shocker that each year the rumour mill starts spinning regarding his debut.
However, PR expert Rochelle White is convinced that Piers won’t be making his mark in either the Jungle or the Castle anytime soon.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, Rochelle said: “Piers has expressed how he is not a fan of Ant and Dec – particularly when it comes to the NTAs.
“The feud between them, although light-hearted, is all a bit tongue-in-cheek. They all seem to throw banter at one another, and Piers loves to throw shade around I’m A Celebrity.”
Rochelle referenced how Piers has historically made comments regarding the importance of his job and the topics, while Ant and Dec repeatedly beat him out for presenter of the year at the National Television Awards.
Ant and Dec recently celebrated 20 years of success having won an award 20 times in a row, while Piers remains just a nominee.
It’s not just Piers’ relationship with Ant and Dec that convinces PR expert Rochelle that Piers wouldn’t want to take part in the challenge.
She said: “I feel that he wouldn’t want to do the show as that gives the public a reason to keep him in and vote for him to do the bushtucker trials.
“As we have seen previously, if the public aren’t a fan of someone, they will keep voting them to do things.
“Piers has historically been quite harsh on past contestants, he knows that he won’t be able to control the narrative others will have on him.”
Rochelle did recognise that Piers would make for exciting television however, adding: “As a journalist, Piers knows what people want to see and hear, and he is very good at capitalising on that. There are always inappropriate jokes, but he always seems to make amends at some point.”
While it’s unlikely Piers will step foot in the castle this year, it seems his GMB co-star Richard Madeley might be heading in to give the trials a go for himself.
Following speculation that he had signed up to the show, Richard refused to rule out his appearance while he was live on air on the morning show.
Shortly after, he confessed he had to go for a medical exam – something which the celebs heading into the show have to do every year.
Even Susanna was poking questions about whether he was going in or not, but as always in the strict celeb secret bank, Richard kept his cards very close to his chest.
