Spencer Morgan, son of Piers Morgan, has revealed his secret feud with Good Morning Britain host Adil Ray.
Adil stepped in alongside Susanna Reid after Piers legendarily stormed off set following a row with weather presenter Alex Beresford in March.
And now his son Spencer has lashed out at Adil on social media, cruelly branding him a ‘virtue signalling gimp’.
It came as Adil appeared to criticise Piers for his assessment of Simon Biles’ withdrawing from the Tokyo Olympics, after the controversial broadcaster cast doubt on her mental health reasons for the move.
Writing in his Daily Mail column, Piers said: “The world’s greatest ever gymnast, a woman who proudly told me how she fought back after making big mistakes to win Gold, just gave up at the first hurdle of these Olympics.
“You’re not just at these Games for yourself, Simone.”
He added: “Athletes are now deemed more courageous, inspiring and heroic if they lose or quit then if they win or tough it out, which is ridiculous.”
He further called tennis player Naomi Osaka an “arrogant spoiled brat” after she announced she would no longer take part in press conferences to aid her mental health.
It’s not the first time Piers has cast aspersion on mental health, famously lashing out at Meghan Markle over her iconic Oprah interview, in which she admitted she’d been suicidal while in the UK.
GMB’s Adil wasn’t happy with Piers’ opinion, though he wasn’t naming names as he posted on social media: “Have those who bullied Naomi Osaka & Simone Biles gone after Ben Stokes yet? They don’t tend to go after men like him do they? Funny that.
“Take all the time you need legend. Wishing you a healthy recovery and we’ll all be waiting should you wish to carry that bat & ball again.”
Which is when Spencer, 28, decided to chip in in response on Twitter: “Fakest virtue signaling [sic] gimp in the game.”
But Adil wasn’t deterred, as he later tweeted: “What is it about powerful white men criticising women of colour? They don’t think twice and see fit to offer critical opinion.
“They claim it’s not about race. If they were aware of the challenges these brilliant women face daily, they would only ever think of offering support.”
Piers was later asked by followers if he would criticise Ben Stokes – who is set to prioritise his mental health by taking an indefinite break from cricket – if he would offer the same criticism he offered Naomi and Simone.
One of Piers’ 7.9million Twitter followers quizzed him: “So, will you say of Ben Stokes: ‘You have let down your team-mates, your fans and your country?’ I doubt it, and it speaks volumes about you.”
Piers responded: “If he quit in the middle of a Test match with no physical injury, leaving his teammates in the lurch like Simon Biles did, & complained he wasn’t having enough ‘fun’, then I would have said that.
“Especially if he had GOAT embroidered on his shirt. But he didn’t. So I didn’t.”
