Production crew walked off Alec Baldwin’s movie set hours before tragic shooting in row over concern about gun safety.
The Hollywood actor accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42 while on set of Western movie Rust.
The crew members walked off the set complaining about the long hours, awful conditions and two other incidents which involved “misfire” of weapons.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the crew had to stay overnight in Albuquerque, an hour drive from where the set is, due to production not paying for hotels in Sante Fe.
When they returned to set to collect their things on Thursday, they found they had been replaced by locals.
It is currently unknown who those locals were and what training and expertise they have but it is suspected one possibly loaded the weapon with a live round before handing it to Baldwin.
Hutchins was airlifted from the set at the Bonanza Creek Ranch after the stunt firearm hit her in the stomach.
She was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, where she later tragically died.
Rust director Joel Souza was also hit in the shooting and taken to hospital.
A crew member working on the upcoming movie has set the record straight and reassured fans the 48-year-old has now been discharged from hospital.
She said: “Joel Souza texted me that he’s out of hospital.”
The new Western movie written and directed by Mr Souza follows an outlaw, played by Alec Baldwin, who has had a bounty on his head for years.
When his 13-year-old grandson is convicted of accidental murder and sentenced to hand, he travels to Kansas to break him out of prison.
An unexpected bond forms between the outlaw and his estranged grandson as they go on the run.
Fans and friends have been paying tribute to the mum-of-one who tragically passed away.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson wrote on her final Instagram post: “I am so so sorry. Rest easy. My love and strength to your family.”
Producer James Cullen Bressack shared his heartache, as he commented: “I will miss you my dear friend … This is devastating.”
