Judge Robert Rinder has spoken out after he was mugged by a group of masked thugs earlier this week, admitting he now feels “sorry” for them.
“Three boys wearing balaclavas on bikes” cornered the Judge Rinder star in North London earlier this week.
The masked thugs stole the 42-year-old barrister’s phone, and he was left “in shock” from the terrifying experience.
Once this subsided, however, Judge Rinder took to Twitter to share his “sadness” at what he suspected would happen in his perpetrators’ futures.
“After the rage, I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness for these boys because I’ve seen where their path leads,” the TV star explained.
“In the meantime, we need to champion, train & fully resource our brave police officers – who come from EVERY background – to work with ALL communities to protect us.”
In his initial tweet, Judge Rinder had posted on social media in anger following the incident, as he said: “I’ve just had my phone grabbed out my hands by 3 boys wearing balaclavas on bikes (Finchley Road & Canfield gardens).
“They laughed as I shouted to drop it.”
“Im in shock but am insured & privileged. Others are less lucky,” the furious star went on.
“Help me find these people & stop them (financial reward).”
Upon reflection, the lawyer became more upset over the circumstances that would have led to three boys choosing to commit a crime.
Metropolitan police issued a statement that read: “Police are investigating after receiving a report of a theft at approximately 20.40 hrs on Wednesday, 24 March on Finchley Road.
“Three males dressed in black approached the victim and took his mobile phone. Enquiries are on-going. No arrests at this early stage.”
Fans and friends of the Judge have shared their support since his terrifying ordeal, with singer Beverley Knight leading the rally.
“I am so sorry Robert,” she said. “I don’t care about privilege, nothing about what happened to you is ok.”
A Channel 4 producer and colleague also posted: “Main thing is you’re ok. Tried texting you but…..doh. Call if you need anything.”
