Sarah Harding has explained why she made the incredibly difficult decision to turn down radiotherapy after a second tumour appeared as her cancer spread.
The 39-year-old former Girls Aloud singer, who was in the band along with Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, opened up on the heartbreaking reason she rejected the treatment.
In an excerpt of her new book published by The Times Magazine on Saturday, Sarah explained she didn’t want to spend her last months without hair, now she knows her cancer has advanced.
Sarah wrote: “There’s an option for radiotherapy on my skull but I don’t want to go through that and lose my hair at this stage, especially with no guarantees at the end of it.”

The star penned how some might consider the decision to be “vain,” however Sarah said she doesn’t feel losing her hair is worth it when it’s not promised to make a big difference to her prospects.
She explained: “I don’t want to feel like I have to spend whatever time I have left hiding away.”
It comes after Sarah was told by doctors she has just “months” left to live after her cancer spread and professionals found a new tumour.

The second tumour is located at the base of the star’s spine and possibly in her brain.
Sarah’s first tumour was breast cancer and she underwent breast removal surgery, since describing how traumatic she found the experience to be.
She recalled how the painful operation left her unable to look in the mirror at her reflection and destroyed her self-confidence.
Too unwell to undergo the reconstruction surgery, Sarah wrote: “The loss of it breaks my heart.”

Sarah also said it was “very hard to wake up every morning” following the surgery.
In another excerpt from her new book Hear Me Out, Sarah penned that doctors told her Christmas 2020 was probably her last.
Sarah wrote: “In December my doctor told me that the upcoming Christmas would probably be my last.”
Later in the book, she adds: “I’m at a stage now where I don’t know how many months I have left.”
In the book, Sarah also revealed that she nearly died from sepsis and was in a two-week coma after her cancer diagnosis.
She explained: “At first I thought it was just a cyst.
“The trouble was the pain was getting worse. It got so bad that I couldn’t sleep in a bed. Eventually, my skin started to bruise. By now I was terrified.”
Since Girls Aloud split in 2013, Sarah has gone on to win Celebrity Big Brother, star in Ghost The Musical and appeared in several films including St Trinians, and has spent a lifetime in the spotlight.
