Strictly bosses 'frustrated' as Katie McGlynn's soap schedule clashes with rehearsals

Strictly Come Dancing bosses are reportedly “frustrated” because Katie McGlynn is struggling to balance filming Hollyoaks with her rehearsals for the hit BBC One dance competition.

The 28-year-old has found the first three weeks training quite difficult as she attempts to juggle her work, playing the role of Becky Quentin on the Channel 4 soap, alongside her gruelling eight-hour training sessions with her professional partner Gorka Marquez.

As her two work commitments continue to clash, it has been said that Strictly bosses are unimpressed with the star’s schedule which is cutting into her vital dance training.

A source told The Sun that “tensions are rising” backstage as the 11 celebrity contestants prepare to take to the dancefloor this week where the stars will face the dance off for the very first time.

The insider revealed: “Tensions seem to be rising as the actor struggles to juggle her two major commitments.

They added of the former Coronation Street star: “There is no doubt she is exhausted by her schedule and she isn’t getting in as much practice as she would like with Gorka, who’s even arranged rehearsal sessions in Manchester to make life easier for her.”

Daily Star has reached out to Hollyoaks and Strictly Come Dancing representatives for a comment.

Currently the soap actress resides in Manchester but spends a large majority of her time down in Liverpool where she is filming the popular long-standing soap as Becky, a role which she first took on in June earlier this year.

Outside of work, Katie can be found in the dance studio with Gorka incessantly training for the next performance before the pair travel down south for the Strictly live shows at the weekend.

Last weekend, the Lancashire lass climbed up to the middle of the leaderboard after she was awarded 22 points for her fiery tango by Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

This comes amid reports that BBC bosses are considering scrapping the show’s live studio audience and re-introducing quarantine bubbles for the celebrities and their professional dancers once again.

A crisis meeting is said to have been held after Tom Fletcher and his professional partner Amy Dowden tested positive for Covid despite the fact the pair were both fully vaccinated.

Since then, the dynamic duo have been forced to self-isolate at home for a week which means the couple will miss this week’s show on Saturday night, but hope to return to the dancefloor in week three.
