Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez has been rushed to hospital and put on a drip after he caught a mystery illness just days away from Christmas.
The 31-year-old ballroom dancer was taken to A&E on just four days before the festive holiday where he was hooked up to a slew of machines to be closely monitored by doctors over night before he could be sent home.
He took to his Instagram account to share his “24hrs in hospital” as he managed to avoid wrapping presents with loving wife Gemma Atkinson for their beautiful daughter Mia.
Alongside a series of snaps that documented his stay in hospital, the star – who was paired with Coronation Street actress Katie McGlynn in this year’s competition – reassured fans that he was on the mend.
One saw the dancer looking worse for wear as he sat in his hospital bed in Fairfield Hospital, Manchester with a drip in his left arm.
A follow-up clip saw him lying in bed as he shook his head back and fourth with a face mask on while he received fluids through an intravenous line.
As he prepared for a night on the ward, Gorka they shared a selfie as he cosied up in bed with a half-eaten tuna sandwich for his dinner.
In a lengthy social media post, the doting dad shared he experience with his 684,000 concerned followers online.
He wrote: “I was looking forward for Christmas at home but that was interesting 24h in hospital.
“Gemma thinks it was an excuse to avoid all the wrapping of the Christmas presents … Everything is okey and I am back home having cookies and cuddles of my little nurse.”
The star went on to thank the doctors and nurses who looked after him overnight in the hospital before he concluded his post with Spanish Christmas wishes: “Felix navidad!”
Friends and fans of the Strictly star rushed to the comments section to send him their best wishes and a swift recovery in time for Christmas.
Finalist John Whaite wrote: “I hope you are ok Gorksybabes,” followed by two heart emojis.
Fellow pro dancer Katya Jones added: “Oh no! Get better soon Gorks.”
Dance partner Katie McGlynn chimed in with: “Noo! Hope you’re okay,” with a crying and a love heart emoji.
