Strictly Come Dancing's Tilly Ramsay slams radio host for calling her ‘chubby’

Tilly Ramsay has slammed a national radio host for his cruel words after he branded her “chubby” during his afternoon show.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, who is the daughter of chef Gordon Ramsay, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a clip from Steve Allen’s LBC radio show.

Alongside the clip, the 19 year old also attached a lengthy post in which she asked her followers to “be kind” as she continues to train on the hit BBC One show with her first-time professional dance partner Nikita Kuzmin.

In the clip, Steve is heard saying: “Tilly Ramsay is on Celebrity MasterChef Australia, is she? Well, she can’t blooming well dance, I’m bored of her already.

“She’s a chubby little thing, isn’t she? Have you noticed? Probably her dad’s cooking I should imagine.”

In response to his hurtful words, Tilly penned: “I try not to read and listen to comments and negativity however recently being called out on a national radio station by a 67-year-old man is a step too far.

“Steve please feel free to voice your opinions however I draw the line at commenting on my appearance.

“It’s such a shame that someone is trying to make such a positive experience negative.

“This isn’t the first and definitely won’t be the last comment made about my appearance and I accept that and I’m learning to accept myself.”

She added: “But please remember that words can hurt and at the end of the day I am only 19 and I’m so grateful for all the amazing opportunities I have been able to take part in and I understand that being in the public eye obviously comes with its own repercussions and I’ve been aware of this from a young age.

“However I won’t tolerate people that think it’s okay to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone’s weight and appearance. Love Tilly xx”

And her fellow Strictly stars and supporters soon rallied around her in support as they slammed the horrid comments.

Fellow contestant John Whaite responded: “He’s a piece of old sandpaper love, worn and used and has nothing to offer the world.

“And his vicious scratching has only left you polished and more fabulous. Love you.”

Tom Fletcher’s wife Giovanna added: “I just gasped so loudly at his comments. There are many words to use for him, however he is irrelevant and not worth it.

YOU are sunshine. YOU are welcoming, bubbly, funy kind, sweet, and endearing. YOU are beautiful from your head to your toes and the inside out. Keep doing you Xxxx.”

Professional dancer Dianne Buswell chimed in with: “Tilly you’re a beauty inside and out. I think your so brave to speak up about this perfectly said I hope people learn from this. Just know that we all support you and think your wonderful xxxx.”

It Takes Two host Janette Manrara wrote: “#BeKind…. How fast we forget what hurtful comments can do for someone’s mental health. You are a POWERFUL young lady! Wear your crown w/ your head held high.”
